5.Letter to organise a meeting to discuss the formal request for flexible working.

Following a formal request from an employee, it is a good idea to arrange to meet to discuss the proposal before making a final decision. This is a good move from an employer: employee relationship angle as it demonstrates you will make the time for them even if the answer is ultimately no and it is a good move to ensure you are taking the statutory right that qualifying employees have seriously. It is also a good idea as whilst, on the face of it, it may not look that the proposal could work for you as the employer, a discussion may show it could be good for both sides/

This letter needs personalising with dates etc, popping on to letter head and signature etc before issue. Worth noting that whilst it is not a statutory right for the employee to be accompanied, it may be a good idea to give that right – providing they tell you who it is and that the request can be facilitated.
