Example Person Specification (Broader)
This is an example of broader person specification - this example is for a Marketing Manager. Unlike the more basic one this addresses a wider array of job-specific requirements. This addresses the normal area of whether such a requirement is "essential" or "desirable" but would also require you to assess which part of the process you would apply the criteria- short-listing or interview...or both? Using a good, well thought out person specification would help you match the person with the right skills, knowledge, and behaviours to the role but it also helps you demonstrate that the decision you made was based on such criteria only (backed up by interview assessment forms etc.)- thus helping you keep the right side of the law.
